Burt Process Equipment in 2022.
Massachusetts Manufacturing MASH-UP β’ September 2023 & 2022
FORGE is a non-profit organization centered in Massachusetts
that serves to help innovators navigate the journey from physical prototypes to
commercialization and impact. FORGE brings together forward-thinking businesses
through mutually valuable manufacturing and supply chain connections. Burt Process
exhibited at the MASH-UP event to engage with engineering and technology
students from New England's most advanced educational universities and
institutions. Burt Process staff introduced fluid handling equipment engineering
and applications to young professionals emerging into tech industries. Hands-on
activities challenged students to think critically and problem-solve through
engineering and teamwork solutions.
Burt Sponsored SHS Electrathon Race β’ April 2023
Burt Process Equipment
In 2022 Burt Process sponsored the Advanced Engineering Car
Club Team at Seymour High School for the Electrathon Race as part of this
initiative. Over the course of the 2022-2023 academic year, students in the
club work together to design their electric-powered race car. The goal is to
achieve the most laps in a one-hour race by following strict safety and
specification guidelines while planning for maximum efficiency. Students build
their cars from scratch using raw materials and learn hands-on skills that
include engineering, CAD design, welding, electronics, physics, and teamwork
skills. The result is an impressive 3-wheeled 12V electric car reaching speeds
between 30 and 35 MPH. The race is a regional competition with other schools
and teams from around New England and Canada. In this highly competitive
semi-annual event, students take pride in their car, team, and school. After a
day of perfect weather and excitement, the Seymour team took 2nd and 5th places among over 20
competitors.

U-Mass Student Facility Tour β’ November 2022
Burt Process collaborated with UMass's Department of Mechanical
and Industrial Engineering to connect UMass students and Burt Process
Equipment. A team of five University of Massachusetts students selected for a
pump-based project attended the facility tour, which included reviewing basic
components and pump technologies. Burt Process engineers mentored the students
to the point of product selection. The project simulates a two-part resin
dispense and recirculation system. The students were tasked to select products,
integrate instrumentation, and complete PLC programming.
SHS Burt Facility Tour & Car Club Sponsorship β’ November 2022
Burt Process hosted a manufacturing facility tour
for Seymour High School students to support local programs that inspire and
engage them in learning engineering and fabrication skills. Students learned
about various pump technologies and were provided hands-on learning with a "Heart
Pump" project as a basis for positive displacement pumps.
Burt Process sponsored the Seymour High School Car Club and
Advanced Engineering students in providing funds and materials for the
fabrication of their electric-powered car. The Car Club is a regional education
program and competition to design and build a 12-volt electric race car,
meeting specifications, safety, and performance guidelines. Each year's car competes
against other schools in the New England region and extends to Canada, which is
held twice a year at Lime Rock Raceway in Salisbury, Connecticut. Students take
pride in their cars, and race day is an exciting event that tests their skills.
